Medieval History:
Often portrayed as a chaotic and barbaric period in history, the Medieval Age spawned from the fall of the Roman Empire and the power vacuum that followed. Medieval cultures carved out their respective dominions from the broken pieces of the Roman Empire. Medieval Feudalism and Christianity established an uneasy political understanding in the Western European region and soon became the dominant powers throughout the medieval age. While the Medieval lords enslaved thousands of peasants and harnessed the economic output of their lands, Christianity placated the medieval down-trodden with religious panaceas and edicts.
Medieval History - The Fall of Rome:
With the fall of Rome, so fell the cultural and scientific enlightenment of the empire. The famous network of Roman roads went into disrepair and the roaming medieval bands and barbarians ravaged medieval merchants who dared to venture to the outlying lands beyond the protective sphere of influence of their medieval feudal kings. The medieval feudal warfare which ensued led to widespread poverty, disease and a general disrespect for the fellow man. This decadent period came to be known as the Middle Ages or Dark Ages and increasingly, the medieval people suffered a culturally isolated existence. The decadence and feudal warfare of the medieval period introduced a variety of military innovations in body armor and weaponry. By separating themselves from the Roman Empire, the medieval tribes were also able to assert their own culturaly identities.
