How Can Cinderella Escape The Ball?

In the classic Cinderella tale, the future princess has only her pumpkin coach at her side when she needs to escape the ball before midnight. How much easier would her journey have been if she had had a Chevrolet instead? Well, you can find out in two classic Chevy commercials that feature our heroine using her American car to get back before her evil step sisters find out what has happened. Will she escape before midnight?? We'll never tell!

How Has Animation Changed Over The Years?

In this day and age of computer generated graphics in seemingly every blockbuster movie, it may be odd to think that there was a time when every animated frame was hand drawn by master artists. With this DVD you can see exactly what animation was like more than 70 years ago - when every frame was a work of art! This is a must have for any lover of film history!

General Packaging Description:
Our professionally-produced DVDs are shipped in retail Amaray style DVD cases just like you would find in a store. These beautifully packaged DVDs make great gifts and are themselves works of art. While we offer some of the best prices anywhere, we have never sacrificed quality for price.

"Thanks again for many happy and informative hours on my computer. I will be telling all history buffs I know about your products!"

My Merry Oldsmobile
In this classic Oldsmobile advertisement, Lovely Lucille is menaced by a villain and rescued by her pint-sized true love. The advertisement is a musical developed by Fleischer Studios as a sing-along cartoon. There is a good deal of what at the time was considered "naughty" images. Both Lucille and her nemesis are driving Oldsmobiles - guess who comes out ahead!

Producer: Fleischer Studios
Sponsor: Oldsmobile Motor Company
Year: 1932
Length: 00:06.28
Audio: Mono
Color: BLACK & WHITE

Down the Gasoline Trail
For this Jam Handy clip, his master production team combines real photography and cartoon animation to demonstrate what happens to a drop of gasoline from the time it is put into the gasoline tank of a Chevrolet to the time the car's engine roars to life. This early Chevrolet film superimposes cartoon animation over industrial photography as it follows an anthropomorphized drop of gasoline through the "efficiently designed gasoline delivery system" of a Chevy engine. It is fascinating to see how the animation is incorporated into the natural photography!

Producer: Jam Handy Organization
Sponsor: Chevrolet Division, GM Corp.
Year: 1935
Length: 00:07:57
Audio: Mono
Color: BLACK & WHITE

A Coach for Cinderella
Darn those evil step-sisters! This is a hilarious retelling of the Cinderella story. In the cartoon the Chevrolet is magically built out of plant and animal life: caterpillars roll into circles and become automobile tires; in the visible V-6 fireflies equal spark plugs and mice provide motive power. Why not? Isn't that what fairy godmothers are for? All of the animation was supervised by master artist Frank Goldman.

Producer: Jam Handy Organization
Sponsor: Chevrolet Division, GM Corp.
Year: 1936
Length: 00:09:22
Audio: Mono

A Ride for Cinderella
Who knows what could happen to Cinderella if she does not get home from the ball by midnight? Whatever her fate, it's probably worse than getting grounded or spending a week without television! In this classic animated short Cinderella relies on a Chevrolet to carry her home by midnight through obstacles and storms. Cinderella stays at the prince's ball so late that it may be impossible for her to get home before the stroke of twelve. Perhaps a Chevy will come to her aid after all! You need to buy the DVD to find out!

Peg Leg Pedro
Oh no! Children are being menaced by evil pirate Peg Leg Pedro! This animated short combines Treasure Island, Spanish gold, & young love into a thrilling ad for Chevrolet. Things look bad for our young lovers until Nicky Nome comes to the rescue and all ends well. Yet another Jam Handy classic!

Sponsor: Chevrolet Motor Company
Year: 1938
Length: 00:09:18

Extra Esso
This creepy short is mostly live action but incorporates animation towards the end. Most of the clip is a standard advertisement for Esso gasoline until the gas jockeys suddenly break into a jingle and the Esso sign mutates into a grinning face! It's a bit strange but is a good look at how advertisers were trying to mix animation and live action.

Producer: N/A
Sponsor: Esso Standard Oil Company
Year: 1938
Length: 00:01:00
Audio: Mono
Color: BLACK & WHITE

Breakfast Pals
This is one of the original Snap! Crackle! Pop! Rice Krispies advertisements. In this adventure the elves battle Mushy, Soggy & Toughy for control of breakfast bowls. An interesting aspect is the grey Rice Krispies box from the dark ages of package design. It is fascinating to see what these television icons looked like 70 years ago!

Producer: Cartoon Films, Limited
Sponsor: Kellogg (W.K.) Company
Year: 1939

The Princess and The Pauper
Nicky Nome, a hero from both the Cinderella and Peg Leg Pedro Chevrolet advertisements, makes a return appearance in this adventure advertisement. This time his job is to rescue a treasure-laden pauper from the Valley of Jewels. He does so by taking him on a magic carpet ride to visit a beautiful princess. Of course along the way the carpet transforms itself into a new Chevy!

"I showed these DVDs to my advertising professor! He couldn't believe it! All of the supposedly "modern" advertising methods we were learning were on display here - back in the 1930s! Wow! This taught me a lot!"
