The Consolidated B-24 Liberator, befitting its name, was produced in greater quantities than any other US bomber of WWII. Flown by every branch of the US armed forces and numerous foreign nations, it was employed in every combat theater during the war. Its 2,850-mile range and maximum bomb load of 8,000 pounds made it well suited for such missions as the famous 1943 attack on the Axis oil industry at Ploesti, Romania, and twenty-hour patrols over the Indian Ocean in search of Japanese submarines. More than 100 b/w photos, 10 color profiles, line drawings, color covers; 58 pages. 'Reissue'
