JS El Cano Museum Quality Replica Ship
Although Ferdinand Magellan is often credited with being the first man to circumnavigate the globe, he was killed half-way through the journey in 1521. His pilot Juan Sebastian de Elcano took command and arrived back at Spain with a crew of only nineteen men after a voyage of three years. De Elcano is thus a fitting choice of name for a Spanish sail-training vessel, and his four-masted namesake has served the officers and cadets of the Spanish Navy in that capacity for almost three- quarters of a century. Whether flying the flag of a monarchy, Franco's fascist dictatorship, or parliamentary democracy, Juan Sebastian de Elcano has sailed both as a training vessel and as a goodwill ambassador for Spain, and always as a vivid reminder that Spain once ruled supreme at sea.

38" long x 8 " Wide x 26" High (1:100 scale)

Requires over 250 hours to build from scratch (not from a model kit) by a master artisan. Plank on bulkhead construction (a painstaking process where each individual plank is added to the hull one at a time). Built with rare, high quality woods. Handpainted the actual colors of the real Juan Sebastian El Cano To build this ship, extensive research was done using various sources such as museums, drawings, copies of original plans and photos of the actual ship.
