She was launched in East Boston in 1851. The Flying Cloud acquired a reputation for sailing faster than any other ship of her time. On one record breaking occasion she made the passage from New York to San Francisco in 88 days, a feat never again achieved by a sail powered ship. Flying Cloud met an unfortunate end when she ran aground in 1874, could not be rescued, and was burned to salvage metalwork. DIMENSIONS: 32" long, 26" high, 10.5" wide | | About our Collector Quality Ships | | Our Collector's line of Model Ships consists of replicas of original ships that are built from pictures and drawings. The ships are 100% scratch built, put together piece by piece, similar to an actual ship. There are no model kits used here. The wood is cut from the trees. All our ships are Plank on Frame construction (hollow hulls). Ribs on the inside, piece by piece on the hull and deck. If you look closely, you can see the nails used to secure the strips of wood to the internal ribs. | | | | The lines on the ship are working lines. They can be tightened and loosened. Each ship comes with a solid wooden stand and a brass nameplate. Every ship comes with her history printed on antiqued paper along with a stand. This is displayed beside the ship. The ships are imported from all over the world from master craftsmen who specialize in model boat building. | | | | The boats are made from woods such as cherry, different types of teak, mahogany, oak, rosewood, ash, and other exotic woods. | | Flying Cloud Collector Quality Replica Ship Order Link: | BUY NOW: Flying Cloud Collector Quality Replica Ship for $169
