Ancient Greek Bronze Cuirass | |
|
Although the bronze
helm was developed at
a fairly early age,
bronze was not
conceived as body
armor for some years
later. This probably
had something to do
with the high cost
and rarity of the
alloy at the
beginning of the
Bronze Age.
Although this cuirass
is thin and next to
nothing when compared
to steel armor of
later ages, it still
offered far more
protection than
leather armor and was
much more effective
at deflecting a blow
from a spear, sword,
arrow, dart or stone,
all of which were
employed by the
ancient Greek
warriors.
Made as a set, the
breast and backplate
are adjustable with
two straps and
buckles at the sides
and one at the
shoulders. One size
fits frame from about
5'6" to 6'2"; 150 to
200 lbs.
