Dunbar Sword
Edward I, the Hammer of the Scots, was a true warrior king bent on conquest. In 1296, he invaded Scotland and confronted the Scot King, John de Baliol. Although the famous longbowmen were present at this bloody battle, they did not play a significant role. Instead, the conflict was won by the mailed knight in heavy fighting. The Scots fought hard and long, yet in the end, they lost.
It is in honor of this battle that this sword has been named, since it is of a type carried by both sides. This is the charateristic knightly sword of the period.
The blade has a slight taper and ends in a sharp point. The flat blade has a small fuller that runs about three quarters of the way down. Tough, high carbon steel gives great strength to the blade. Grip is wood wrapped with leather. Both guard and pommel are blackened steel. The pommel has a nickel silver insert which can easily be engraved with your own coat of arms, or whatever symbol you desire. A first class fighting weapon. Made by
Windlass Steelcrafts
. Limited quantity.
